Upon completion of this master’s degree program, you’ll be eligible to receive certification from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Education to teach art in grades Prek-12.

Candidates for the MAT art education program have completed undergraduate studies in the fine arts, either in illustration, painting, photography, ceramics, printmaking, graphic design or another area of study that is approved by the director of the program.

The program is a balance of intellectual foundations, curriculum design and assessment, partnered with hands-on pedagogy and courses that are developed to provide relevant experiences for the classrooms of today and leadership for the future of the profession. You’ll receive comprehensive instruction in the use of art education technology, field-based learning experiences and direct feedback on instructional effectiveness.
